If you made a mistake that you deeply regret recently, one apology is really all that's required. No matter the size of the mistake, no matter the foolishness associated with it, one simple heartfelt apology and acknowledgement of the issue is plenty. Yet you may be feeling like you owe the other person involved much more. In fact, you may be thinking of bending over backwards to please this person, to prove that you aren't the fool you feel like you are, and to get back into this person's good graces. It isn't necessary, and may even have the opposite affect. Say you're sorry and let it go.
